The weight agreed is 65kg because he can’t make 63.5kg. He’s a crazy walk forward that come hard for fight 5 rounds throwing everything. I did watch some fights against Abbas, Wes Jaya, Jamew and Antuan. Against Masoud I couldn’t find, but looks like he was outclassed and got stopped in R4 by cut. He will come, Seeoui style and I know that, but I have to plan something special for stop him, and who get tired first gonna lose.

In the morning and have to lose 1,5lb. I always carry my own scale for control my weight, but their scale was almost 2lb over. Anyway, 10 min running was enough. Was the first time in my career that I have to lose weight in the check weight, but I felt great after do this little jogging.
We eat and rest good, and went to the stadium. This time I was feeling strong – not like in US – and I did finish the fight breathing by my nose.

First round was close, 2nd round I was better but he threw the best shot. Didn’t make me dizzy, but took me off balance when I tried to knee, and he deserve to get the round. After the punch I knew I have to do more because is his home. I push the pace trying to hurt and make him tired, but I lost the round. Round 3 I had to win or I gonna lose the fight. I think I did enough and finish stronger, but I know how the things works and he got the split decision.

We met all the fighters from Thailand in the airport: Buakaw, Yodsanklai, Zidov and myself. Also Sonia Couling, Stephan Fox and Buakaw’s trainers. Was a long flight to Los Angeles, 16h in the plane, and we arrived DEAD. We check in at Hilton Hotel in Long Beach, but was late and we didn’t have anything for eat at saturday night. We did ask in the front desk and the attendant said there’s a seven-eleven shop 15 min walking.
Let’s see what do they have there for eat. We want to drink and eat everytthing… big gatorades, energy drinks and cheap. The big gatorade bottle, 1 liter, cost only 1$.

Lots of new things to drink, but everybody had to take care of their weight. The good thing was that I don’t have too much for cut. First day was the photoshooting. They took some good pics of us, and after we got all day free. I went to Pamplona’s gym – Redondo MMA – at Redondo beach for train a little bit.

Next day was the exams for the Athletic Comission: heart, brain, eyes, blood and we expend all day doing this. Boring but is the law, and that’s the problem. They think they can regulate all sports, even some sports that they don’t know a shit about, but they think they do. And for check weight again was the same. They ask us to fill a lot of papers, but we already did on the medical test day. Anyway we check weight – delayed 3h – and went rest.

Fight day I was feeling weak, maybe didn’t eat properly… really don’t know what happened. I was the 1st fight in the program, had to wrap my hands “boxing style” because all the guys are from boxing and don’t know anything about muay thai. We cannot use liniment, vaselin, corner cannot throw water or ice, only 1 min rest, only one trainer in the ring, cannot drink any energy drink, have to pee and fill many papers before and after the fight. And also fight, but I was worried with their judgment… was too much things in my mind and I couldn’t fight good. Lost to Michael Dicks, but the problem is not win or lose, the problem was, I didn’t fight good, I got tired in a 3 rounds fight (ridiculous), and couldn’t find myself. But I learn some good things and that will not happen again.

I got an invitation for fight an 8 man tournament in Cambodia, but after all bullshits that I saw, I decided to didn’t go there. Thinking better I decided to go fight this 65kg tournament. The 1st fight was supposed to be on july 23rd, but they postponed to 6th august because one of the foreigner fighter couldn’t attend. It would be a 8 man – 4 foreigners and 4 cambodians – fighting for this belt on TV3. One fight 5 rounds, and later semi and final in another day, but this time 3 rounds.

In the first quarter final day – on 6th – I fought Noun Pireak, and my brazilian friend, Sheymon Moraes, would fight Heng Somrang, but Sheymon got sick and will fight on 20th. In the 2nd quarter final day – 20th – Abbas, one swedish, and now Sheymon, will battle for their spot in the 4 man tournament.

I didn’t know the boy, but they said in the check weight the boy have good clinch and like to throw a lot of elbows. Clinch no problem, just be carefull about the elbows and let’s go for knock him out. We check weight in the morning, but I didn’t stand beside him, but when I step in the ring I saw the boy was a lot smaller. And even with that height difference, he was the favourite! The promoter said the boy is good, fight since he was a boy, and cut everybody in his last 9 fights. Let’s see.

Fight started and I want to see what he have to offer. Some punches, some teeps, and no elbows. Then I tried some jabs, and start to low kick him. The boy didn’t check. Again, again, and again. I found the way to stop him, because when you get too much punishment in the leg, you cannot move proper, throw strong punches and block. And I kick him all fight long. R3 and R4 he start to throw elbows, but I was able to block and counter everytime. I tried to fight smart because didn’t want to get injuries for the upcoming fights. R5, if was in Thailand I would be a lot ahead and didn’t need to do anything, but in Cambodia is better to do a little bit more to prove who is stronger and make everything VERY clear. Sometimes only clear is not enough.

Got the decision and now I’m waiting 20th for check who are the other 3 opponents.

I was doing my lazy training (once a day, and not so hard), but 2 wednesday ago when I came back from my morning run, the boss said for me stop train because I should fight on that night. That means they let me know about my fight 10h before. I had an appointment and couldn’t cancel, so, I told them that would be impossible for me. Fine they said.
Two days after, friday, again: Leo, you have a fight next wednesday! And that’s a lot better. Instead 10h, I have 5 days for train and get ready. Gonna be an iranian opponent, 65kg. One of my trainers said: He fought same show as you in Ratchaburi and lose for a brazilian fighter. Damn, no iranian on that day, and who fought Losy Ingramgym was Valdet. Anyway, I thought some names and tried to figure out who could be: Masud, Behzad, Vahid, or the german-iranian Valdet.

One day before the fight I ask if they will check weight, and they said YES! Not big deal because I didn’t have too much for lose to 65kg, but had to run a bit on sweat suit. Did it and I discovered the name of my opponent, Behzad Kiatprapas (former 2x WPMF world champion). Shit, again I have to fight another friend. I know him for a long time, but what can we do? We’re professional and that’s our job. I went to Pattaya with Pee Mok, former Petpayathai trainer wich now is working at F.A. Group. He gave me a ride and helped me all the time because I went alone.

Some brazilian fought in the day after (check in the poster)

Check weight in the morning and I was 65kg (143,5lb), but I discovered the fight will not be 65kg, but 67,2kg (148lb). Again almost 5lb advantage to my opponent, but I didn’t wait for check his weight. He was running to lose 2-3lb I think but I leave.

A lot of teeps

That’s a new show broadcasted by MCOT TSport every wednesday in Pattaya at Fairtex Thepprasit Stadium from 21h to 23h. They invited me to fight in the 1st week (I think against a japanese), but I fought in the 2nd. Was a good fight but I couldn’t exchange power with Behzad because he’s a lot stronger. I avoid the clinch – also because I didn’t train properly – and tried to teep a lot and make him tired with body punches. Of course being carefull all the time with his right swing hooks. Was not our best fight, but we did our best and he also didn’t have enough time for train. I won on points after 5 rounds and thanks God nobody got hurt.

Also met 2 friends in Pattaya like Nui, my first trainer when I arrived in Thailand, and Antanas, my razmavaran mate that took this pics.

Me and Antanas before the fight (check what the last car is selling)

I’ve been a lot lazy to update the blog… almost one month, but ok, let’s post the news. The fight in Cambodia was a good one. Me and Abbas went there, check weight easily in the morning and did take our rest. Fight time and Abbas was first, and quick. Early in the 1st round he threw a right kick, and his cambodian opponent caugh his leg. He started to punch and the guy didn’t give up, and was getting dizzy after 3-4 punches. The referee broke and he just went back to finish with a flury of hard punches. He won quickly, but the boy was at least 185cm, very tall for 65kg.
I had to face a boy called Long Sophy, a tall and knee cambodian fighter. For me no problem, if you like to exchange knees, you’re welcome. I love this game and he came slowly in the 1st round for try, but I spin him sometimes and hit some good knees. His first weapon wouldn’t work, then he start to try play technical game, and I start to kick his arms because he didn’t block. In all fight I threw him maybe 10-15 times and kick a lot. He didn’t offer me any risk, but R5 he came strong for try impress the judges and make maybe 5 lateral knees and the crowd got crazy. I start to kick and he was kicking back, but after 5-6 kicks he went back, and I was able to throw him 2x in the last round, and this for sure that’s enough for win, but I lose to the referees. By the way, 5 referees.
I told for the promoter that was the first and last time that I fought in Cambodia. He said sorry for the decision and will check what’s happened because his boss also complained. Looks like they check the fight again, fired 4 of the 5 judges, and maybe give me the win. But I don’t care anymore because I realize that Cambodia is like China, or win by ko, or you gonna lose on points to the local fighter.
Also was nice to enjoy Songkran with no training, but now holidays are done, and I’m back to the gym.

Now another promoter start to rebuild the promotions in Cambodia and ask me for fight, and for him, I’ll try. He’s a nice guy, works hard, and looks serious. Some friends went already and said everything is fine, food, hotel, check weight, and I want to try.
The fight will be broadcasted live on Cambodian TV 3 and that’s one link for watch.

http://www.freeetv.com/modules.php?name=Video_Stream&page=watch&id=3520

I don’t know the right time, but probably gonna be afternoon in Thailand/Cambodia, around 14h (in Brazil around 6AM). No idea who is my opponent, but probably some good local fighter, this time at 65kg. Also Abbas Ahmadi will fight in the same show and gonna be nice to meet him again. I hope we didn’t get big injuries for walk and discover Phnom Penh a little bit.

I was supposed to fight on 12th at Omnoi, after change to 10th at Rajadamnern, and 4 days before the fight postponed to 17th live on channel 7. First I would be a rematch with Yodpetake, a thai that I fought 1 month ago. The promoter said I was winning the fight for a big difference (20-1 in the odds), but in the last round he made a little bit, for me and my corners not enough, and he got the decision.
But when changed to 17th, also changed my opponent. They only said: “Is a good foreigner”. I didn’t go to the press conference because had to leave my mom in the airport, but saw some pics the next day at Muaysiam Newspaper. I did ask Melissa because saw her in the pic what’s gonna be the card and she told me:

Losi (Brazil) vs Valdet (Germany) – WPMF 147lb title
Melissa (England) vs Mesa (Thai) – WPMF 126lb title
Kaodeng vs Rakkiat – WPMF 122lb title
Leo vs Wes Jaya (Canada)

Fuck, Wes is a nice guy and now we have to fight each other. The weight for me was 65kg, but for Wes they said 67kg, but he came straight from Phuket to Ratchaburi and missed the check weight. Next day I knew he gonna come BIG, but also knew that I’m taller and have to use my reach advantage to control the fight.

Wes Jaya have a big heart and make him give up gonna be impossible, especially after watch his fight against Josh Palmer and Wuttichai Sor Yuppinda for Z1. The only way is hit him STRONGLY as you can in head, and put him for sleep, otherwise he will fight.

As expected, he came strong trying everything, sometimes he caught me, but my biggest surprise was when he accept the clinch game at R3 and 4. Thats my strongest weapon, and was what allowed me to control the fight for win on points.

The others results:
Losi Ingramgym (Brazil) won Valdet Topkingboxing (Germany) – WPMF 147lb title
Melissa (England) lose Mesa (Thai) – WPMF 126lb title
Kaodeng Surapitfarm lose Rakkiat Kiatprapat – WPMF 122lb title
Leo Kiatpetch won Wes Singpatong (Canada) – 147lb

Was nice to see Melissa, Jos (Losi), Valdet and Wes, but that was my coldest day in Thailand since 2007. No oil, no massage, and not too much work for the corners.

This was a nice month, my mom came to visit me for the first time, and for sure was a nice time. I couldn’t enjoy more because I have a fight schedulled for next week and had to train but was good. We made barbecue, eat brazilian food, take her for shopping some days, and last weekend we travelled for Chiang Mai.

My brother also came for some days, but left for travel in Asia and gonna come back again this week. After I post some pics.
About fights, yesterday was Lumpinee Champions Kriekrai and I went to watch. Two boys from my gym fought, Sakeddao and Tukkatatong, but unfortunatelly Tuk lose. Singdam start to land his famous right kick and almost broke Tuk’s left arm. The main event was Sakkedao but this time no chance for Petchboonchu, and he got a 135lb Lumpinee belt.
I gonna fight 17th in Ratchaburi for Nai Kanomtom’s day. Gonna be a live show broadcasted by CH7, and I’m fit for this fight.
